Scholars Program

The Russell Women in Science Leadership Scholars Program provides Northeastern undergraduate students with hands-on research experience, mentorship from faculty, and leadership opportunities.

What to Expect

  • Work with a Northeastern faculty member on a science research project for 10 weeks during spring semester (Jan-May)
  • Apply to a specific research project that aligns with your interests
  • Receive 1:1 mentorship from faculty each week
  • Expect to commit between 2-5 hours per week on the research depending on the scope of the project
  • Get special access to leadership workshops and the Russell lecture event in the spring (Oakland only)
  • Receive a $2,000 scholarship for Spring 2025

Eligibility Criteria

The program is open to Northeastern undergraduate women and non-binary student applicants who are interested in pursuing scientific research.  The program is available to students based on the Oakland and Boston campuses.

The Boston program is open to undergraduate sophomores in the College of Science. Please note: students scheduled to be on co-op for the spring 2025 semester are not eligible to participate.
