Scholars Program

The Russell Women in Science Leadership Scholars Program provides Northeastern undergraduate students with hands-on research experience, mentorship from faculty, and leadership opportunities.

Boston

  • Work with a Northeastern faculty member on a science research project during the 2026 summer semester
    • First-half summer semester: May 6 – June 20
    • Second-half summer semester: June 29 – August 16
    • Full summer semester: May 6 – August 16
  • Expect to commit 10–12 hours per week to the research, depending on the scope of the project
  • Receive a scholarship

Oakland

  • Work with a Northeastern faculty member on a science research project during the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Expect to commit 6–8 hours per week to the research, depending on the scope of the project
  • Get special access to leadership workshops and the Russell lecture event in the spring
  • Meet with other Russell Scholars for monthly lunch get-together
  • Receive a scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

The Oakland program is open to Oakland based Northeastern first-year undergraduate student applicants who are interested in pursuing scientific research.

The Boston program is available to Boston based Northeastern second-year undergraduate student applicants, and above, who are interested in pursuing scientific research.
