The Trailblazers Program (formerly Summer Academic Workshop | SAW) is designed to help students transition to Northeastern by creating a supportive cohort community to guide them through their first year of college. Students will learn to navigate university life, build a strong network of peers, discover the robust community of support on the Oakland campus, and acclimate to the academic culture of Northeastern.
Students are connected to a cohort of peers prior to entering their first year at Northeastern in an on-campus summer session.
Each participant is connected to a faculty, staff or alumni mentor who will help guide them through their first year of college.
Trailblazers helps students navigate campus life in Oakland and make connections to resources and support.
The cohort will routinely check-in during the academic year for workshops, meet ups, socials & dinners.
Trailblazers is designed to support the needs of students who may be the first in their families to attend college or who have attended high schools with limited course offerings. The program kicks-off the week before school starts and continues throughout the academic year. The commitment includes an on-campus summer session plus 1-2 sessions per month throughout the academic year. Sessions could include workshops, socials, mentor meetings, speakers, meet & greets, community building etc.
